Launched by a handful of British boarding school friends, Genesis found themselves in the vanguard of progressive rock…until their lead singer Peter Gabriel took off on an idiosyncratic and critically acclaimed solo career…while they soldiered on and built a loyal following of their own…only to have their replacement singer Phil Collins pave the way for further success for them all through his solo career.

They may have had origins in the eccentric world of prog rock, but Genesis, Phil Collins, and Peter Gabriel went on to become some of the most successful artists of the ‘80s.
