Overview of Program Requirements
- Audition is required for levels 3 & 4. Placement within levels will be made according to skill level
- Fee for levels 2, 3, & 4 is $640 per year
- Concerts and possible travel
- Rehearsals are Sundays from 1-3:30 p.m. and bi-monthly Tuesdays between 5-9 p.m. for sectionals
Metropolis Debut Symphony (Level 2)
For students 5th-7th grade. Open to anyone wishing to participate, the Debut Symphony prepares you for the more challenging and difficult repertoire of the Metropolis Youth Symphony.
Metropolis Youth Symphony (Level 3)
For students 6th-12th grade by audition only. The Metropolis Youth Symphony is the core ensemble of the MYS Program. They perform works from baroque to contemporary, focusing on performance level repertoire. Auditions will be held in June 2008 and participation begins with the MYS Summer Institute. Auditions for the Fall semester can be set up by calling 847.577.5982 x221.
Metropolis Chamber Ensemble (Level 4)
Open to a limited number of advanced students. Participation in the Metropolis Youth Symphony is required. An additional time commitment is also required. The ensemble focuses on chamber repertoire, mostly from the baroque and classical periods.
