The SOPA Mission

To provide people of all ages the opportunity to grow as individuals, artists and members of the community through development of creativity, self-esteem and skills in the performing arts.

Through private lessons, classes, ensembles, camps, recitals, festivals, competitions, workshops, productions, touring opportunities and special events, the Metropolis School of the Performing Arts strives to teach and nurture the entire person while also providing a thorough foundation in the arts. We encourage ethically minded behavior by promoting mutual and self respect, and by exposing children to diversity, critical thinking and problem-solving opportunities in literature, repertoire, history, real-life situations and relationships.

Given its specific Mission, Metropolis' School of Performing Arts dedicates itself to:

  • Serving as the heart of our community's performing arts education;
  • Maintaining an exceptionally high standard of excellence in all instructors, staff, production and programs;
  • Cultivating a lifelong appreciation of the arts in children and adults, thereby fostering future actors, musicians, technicians, directors, conductors and audiences;
  • Integrating educational opportunities within the community by establishing relationships with local schools, libraries and community organizations.
