Metropolis’ Melt Down to warm your Friday night

The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre will host its second annual Metropolis Melt Down fundraiser Friday.
It starts with a wine-and-cheese tasting and ends with a disco dance party.
There will be samples of limited-production wines from one of South Africa’s leading wineries, Robertson Winery, paired with an array of cheeses from artisanal cheese makers.
Later in the night, Metropolis will host a disco inferno where instructors will teach dances like the Hustle, Bus Stop, Night Fever Line Dance, Four Corners, Bump and more.
Proceeds from the Melt Down event will go to the Metropolis School of Performing Arts. Through the program, more than 1,000 people ages 2 to 92 have participated in theater, music, improvisation and community outreach programs at the Metropolis.
Hours for the Metropolis Melt Down will be from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $38 and includes wine-and-cheese tasting, dance instruction, cash bar and an open dance. Last year’s event sold out.

Other upcoming fundraisers include Metropolis Mardi Gras Feb. 16, featuring Cajun food and a taste of New Orleans atmosphere, and Encore 2007 May 11, with Beatles tribute band American English.
