High School Performance Experience

Grades 9-12


What

This six-week intensive actor and musician training program offers specialty workshops and rehearsal culminating in a one-week run of The Wiz on the Metropolis stage. Participation in this program is by audition only. For audition times and more information, please call the Education Office at 847-577-5982, x221. Please register AFTER acceptance into the program.

Who

Actors and Musicians entering grades 9-12 and graduating seniors.

When

Auditions:
April 11 5:00-8:00 p.m.
April 12 5:00-8:00 p.m.
April 14 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

Auditions consist of a one-minute memorized contemporary monologue and 16-bars of a musical theatre song.

Actors summer schedule ($425):
Workshops June 11 - June 15    4:00-7:00p.m.
Rehearsal June 18 - July 13    4:00-7:00p.m.
Performances (July 16 - 22)
  • Monday, 7/16 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, 7/17 at 9:00 & 11:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, 7/18 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, 7/19 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 7/20 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, 7/21 at 1:00 p.m.

Musicians summer schedule ($225):
Workshops June 25 - June 29    2:00-4:00 p.m.
Rehearsal July 2 - July 6    2:00-4:00 p.m.
Rehearsal July 9 - July 16    4:00-7:00p.m.
Performances (July 16 - 22)
  • Monday, 7/16 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, 7/17 at 11:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday, 7/18 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, 7/19 at 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 7/20 at 10:30 a.m.
  • Saturday, 7/21 at 1:00 p.m.


Tech:
Positions for technical apprentices are also available. Join us as stage crew, assistant stage manager, wardrobe or properties master. Email rhughes@metropolisarts.com for more information.

Orientation:
There will be a short informational meeting prior to the first day of camp where programming questions will be answered and parents and students can meet staff. Please see Metropolis camper registration packet for details.

A $200 deposit (for each session) will secure your child’s spot in the program.
Partial scholarships are available. Balance is due three weeks prior to the start of the session.
