Metropolis Performing Arts Centre in downtown Arlington Heights is a non-profit, professional producing and presenting house that is dedicated to providing a home for quality live entertainment and performing arts education in the northwest suburbs.

Metropolis is currently seeking the following positions:

House & Rentals Manager

Metropolis is currently seeking an individual to join the Front of House staff as a full-time House & Rentals Manager.

Responsibilities include:
- Managing and maintaining the appearance of the theater, lobby, coat room and restroom areas
- Monitoring the theater during all performances
- Managing rentals from the initial call for information to the rental date
- Negotiating rental contracts
- Providing superb customer service to all persons who enter the space
- Overseeing public safety and emergency procedures
- Organizing program booklets and stuffers before and after a show
- Reporting
- Communicating and problem-solving with front of house and production staffs
- Setting up and taking down of tables and chairs, as needed
- Supervising Saints and volunteer ushers
- Handling stressful situations calmly, rationally and tactfully
- Knowledge of past and present shows, education offerings, community impact, outreach programs and downtown Arlington Heights
- Viewing of all shows that run for 5+ weeks, within the first two weeks of the run
- Other duties as assigned

Preferred applicants should have:
- Daytime and evening availability, Monday-Sunday, year-round, includes all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day
- Minimum two years of experience in a high-volume, fast-paced customer service atmosphere
- Current knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Experience with negotiating, writing and reading contracts
- Experience with house management, facilities management, and stage production.
- Ability to lift, push and/or carry objects up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand or walk 80% of the time during events or rentals
- Willingness to volunteer their time for 2-3 special events a year
- Interest in not-for-profit, theater and/or entertainment industries

Schedule will vary weekly depending on the Metropolis event and rental schedule.
