- 76,404 people came through our doors in the 2008/09 season. 19,056 of those were students in school groups, 57,348 attended plays, musicals, rock and cabaret concerts, family shows, The Second City or other comedy performances
- Metropolis’ surveys show that our patrons spend $1.3 million in extra spending every year in Arlington Heights, not including our ticket sales, primarily at restaurants and hotels
- 73% of all Metropolis patrons come from outside of Arlington Heights
- 2,500 students in our School of the Performing Arts taking classes in our Drama, Music and Dance Schools, and Summer and Winter Camps
- Outreach programs have reached over 10,000 people in 53 schools, park district programs and other community partners
- Top 10 Ranking: Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is ranked 10th among the list of the largest professional theatres in the Chicago area, according to The League of Chicago Theatres. The list included the Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Cadillac Palace Theatre, Auditorium Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, Goodman Theatre, The Second City Theatre, Shubert Theater and Paramount Theater.
- Facility: Metropolis opened its doors in April of 2000. Metropolis is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization, located at 111 West Campbell Street in the heart of downtown Arlington Heights. The Theater is part of a $22 million state-of-the-art facility that includes a 309 seat theatre, a bar, two restaurants, banquet facility, offices and free parking. There are multiple restaurants and retails shops within a few blocks of the facility. It is situated one and one half blocks from the Metra train stop.
- Programming: Each year, Metropolis produces 4 shows for our Subscription Series. We also present a wide variety of shows including music performances (such as cabaret nights), comedy shows (including shows from The Second City), and family and holiday programming.
- Stories in Action!: Over 21,000 school children attended a performance in Metropolis’ Stories in Action! series which brings literature studied in area schools to the stage the enhance the students’ learning experience.
- Groups and Rental Opportunities: Groups are welcome at Metropolis and groups of 20 or more receive great discounts to Metropolis productions! The Metropolis theatre can also be rented out to host corporate events, meetings or other group events.
Mission & Goals
Performing Arts at Metropolis (PAM) is a non-profit theater management company dedicated to providing quality entertainment and education to the Northwest Suburbs. We do this by producing and presenting exceptional productions, developing a superior educational program and collaborating with the community of Arlington Heights.
In accordance with our mission, PAM’s organizational goals include: 1) providing an artistic and collaborative home for presenting companies, artistic associates and the community; 2) investing in high quality productions and education programs to generate income to support and broaden existing programs; 3) partnering with area nonprofit organizations, schools, libraries and park districts to provide our community with the best performing arts experiences possible.
